Frequently Asked Questions

We are glad you’re wanting to know more about our pet grooming services!  We’ve been asked a lot of questions over the years, and these are the ones most frequently asked, so we wanted to make it easy by providing the answers for you here.  Just click on the question and the answer will open up.

Can I watch my pet being groomed?

Unfortunately we can’t allow parents to watch while their pets are groomed. It often excites them or makes them nervous and makes it much more difficult on them as well as the groomer. That being said, you are welcome to come in and see the process and ask questions while we work on other pets.

How long will it take?

That depends on the size and condition of your pet. Most small dog haircuts take between 2-3 hours. A big dog bath and blowout is usually around 3-4 hours depending on the level of shedding and packed in fur. Little smooth coated dogs are usually done within an hour.

How often should my pet be groomed?

That depends widely on the length of hair you like and the amount of maintenance you like to do at home. We suggest most small dog haircuts between 4-6 weeks. Shedding brush out dogs at least every 3 months to maintain proper skin and temperature control. It’s all up to you though. We have many dogs who come in for weekly baths so they are fresh and clean all the time.

What shampoo do you use?

We have dozens of different shampoos and conditioners. Everything from extra mild, super cleansing, anti-itch, shed control to plenty of different medicated shampoos to fit your dog’s needs.

Can I have my pet washed in my own shampoo?

As long as it is specifically made for pets of course. If you have a prescription shampoo from your vet all instructions will be followed including extra soak time.

How long until I can get an appointment?

We can usually book you an appointment within a week. However there are times during the year that are very busy so pre-booking is the best way to assure the perfect time is always yours.

Do you muzzle dogs?

We always do what we can to avoid using a muzzle, and have many tried and true ways.   Unfortunately some dogs cannot be groomed without one. If your dog does require a muzzle we always try to ease the dog’s aggressive behavior over time. Many of our aggressive/nervous clients come around and a muzzle is no longer needed.

Do you give my dog toys or treats?

We love to give the dogs toys to play with. My favorite part of my job is spoiling them with squeaky toys and belly rubs. We don’t however share any treats with them. Too many of our furry friends have allergies and are on special diets. You are more than welcome to bring in a treat for us to give them while they are with us though.
